What Are Herbal Vaporizers?

Vaping is truly changing lives, allowing people to quit smoking and find new ways to relax and unwind in a healthier fashion. If you’re new to the world of vaporizers, there is a lot to learn. In fact, many people who are considering the purchase of a vaporizer for the first time feel overwhelmed as they try to make sense of all of the new wording that surrounds vaping. This article will introduce you to all of the basic concepts of vaping, including the types of vaporizers found on the market today and how you might expect they work.

Vaporizing versus Smoking. What is the difference?

Before getting into what a vaporizer is and does, it’s important to understand the key difference between vaporizing and smoking. When you smoke something, you light it on fire and then inhale the smoke given off as a byproduct of combustion. Smoke is full of carbon and impurities, which is what gives it an unpleasant smell and a gray color. Not to mention the chronic cough all smokers seem to have.

Vaporizing does not involve combustion. Instead, the material is heated to a temperature called its vaporization point. At this temperature, the material becomes a gas or vapor. What you’re inhaling is the pure essence of the vaping material, rather than the smoke given off by burning it. As a result, you do not inhale the impurities that you would when smoking the same material.

Different Types of Heating for Vaporizers

In order to vaporize a material, you must expose it to a heat source. This can be done in one of two ways:

vaporizers conduction vs convectionConduction Heat Source – Conduction involves exposing the material directly to heat in order to release its vapor. The very first vaporizers were conduction models, and today many cheap vape pens, portable vaporizers, and desktop vaporizers still use conduction. There are two main disadvantages to conduction. First, putting the vaping material directly in contact with heat could result in accidental burning or combustion, defeating the purpose of using a vaporizer. To overcome this, vaporizer brands have developed conduction vapes with temperature regulators. The second problem with conduction vaporizers is that they may heat the vape material unevenly. This means that you may have to stir or shake the material while you vape to ensure complete vaporization, so you do not waste any material.

Convection Heat Source – Convection involves warming the vaping material by passing hot air through it. This type of vaporizer was developed as a solution to the problems posed by conduction models. A convection heating system allows for more even heating; however, the internal parts of a convection vaporizer are more complicated than a traditional conduction model. As a result, convection models tend to be more expensive.

Desk Top vs Portable Vaporizers

There are two main styles of vapes available on the market today: the desktop vaporizer and the portable vaporizer. A desktop vaporizer is a larger vape that is designed to rest on a table or desk. Most models require electricity for operation; however, a small number have battery packs that allow you to use the vaporizer for a set period of time without plugging it into the wall.

portable vaporizer is cord-less and meant for use on the go. These types run on rechargeable batteries that are replenished either by plugging the vaporizer into the wall, attaching it to a computer or USB charger with a USB cord, or plugging it into a cigarette lighter in a vehicle. A portable vaporizer is hand held, and much smaller in size than desktop vapes.

Desktop Vaporizer Types

There are three main types of desktop vaporizers available on the market today

Forced Air Vaporizer – A forced air vaporizer or balloon vaporizer has an internal fan that blows the vapor into a vape bag or vape balloon. When the bag is filled, you put it to your mouth and inhale the vapor. The Volcano Vaporizer by Storz and Bickel is considered by many to be the best bag vaporizer.

Direct Draw Vaporizer – With a direct draw vaporizer, vapor is inhaled with a device called a vaporizer whip. The vape whip consists of three parts: the vaporizer wand where the vape material is placed, the vaporizer mouthpiece that you put to your mouth, and the vaporizer tubing that connects the two parts. A whip style vaporizer may require you to hold the vape whip in place while you take a draw, or it may have a hands-free connection that holds the whip for you. Some popular whip vaporizers include the DaBudha Vaporizer, the VaporBrothers Vaporizer, and the Silver Surfer Vaporizer.

Hybrid Vaporizers – A combination vaporizer allows you to use both vape bags and vape whips. These vaporizers include a fan that can be turned on to fill a vaporizer bag, or it can feed the vapor automatically through the vaporizer whip. With the fan turned off, a vape whip can be used in the traditional way as a direct draw device. The Arizer Extreme Q vaporizer is one of the best vaporizers for those looking for a combination model.

Portable Vaporizer Types

Portable vaporizers also come in different styles, including:

Handheld Vaporizer – A handheld vaporizer fits into the hand and is usually rectangular in shape. This type of vaporizer typically features a draw tube through which vapor is inhaled. Popular handheld vaporizers include the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer, the Magic-Flight Launch Box Vaporizer, the Arizer Solo Vaporizer, and the Atmos Transporter Vaporizer.

Vaporizer Pen – A vaporizer slender and shaped like an ecig. The vaporizer mouthpiece is attached to the tip of the vape, and is often made from rubber or another flexible material. Some of the most popular vape pens include the G Pen Vaporizer, the 710Pen Vaporizer, the G Pro Vaporizer, and the Atmos R2 Vaporizer.

Dry Herb, Wax and Oil Liquids – What Can You Vape?

Vaporizers can be used to vape three different types of materials:

Dry herbs and tobacco – Desktop vaporizers and most handheld vaporizers are made for dry herbs and tobacco. Many vaporizer pens also can hold dry herbs.

Wax – Waxes that are similar to honey in consistency can be used in some desktop vaporizers, with special attachments and vaporizer accessories. You can also find best wax pen models which can be used to vape these materials.

Oils and Liquids – Oil vaporizer pens allow you to vape e-juicee-liquid, and essential oilsPortable vaporizers and desktop vaporizers usually cannot accommodate these types of materials for vaping; however, some vaporizers come with special aromatherapy chambers that allow you to diffuse essential oils into the room.
